Archive privacy · choice before measurement
History should be open. Your browsing should be yours.
The Irish Tape works without analytics. If you choose to allow measurement, we use Google Analytics 4 only to understand visits and intentional archive actions.
01 · Your choice
Nothing from Google loads before an explicit opt-in.
02 · On your device
The archive keeps only the settings that make it yours.
- Local preferencessound, visual/performance choices and saved record IDs remain in browser storage.
- Offline cachethe service worker retains the app shell and material you have already viewed so the archive can remain usable during a connection drop.
- Optional measurement choicethe on/off setting is stored locally under
irish-tape-analytics-consent-v1. - Local diagnosticsrecent browser errors stay in the current browser session and are available only through the local health check.
03 · If you opt in
What Google Analytics receives.
Google Analytics 4 can receive technical and pseudonymous usage data such as the page URL, broad device/browser information, the measurement cookie and the archive event IDs listed above. We do not send historical search terms, saved-record titles, form content or other visitor-entered text.
The site sends analytics only after consent. Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policies. You can change your choice at any time with the button below; switching measurement off removes the archive’s Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page without the Google tag.
